James joined the Sayes Group in 2020 as the laboratory manager for the group. He obtained a B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 2015 and 2017, respectively. His thesis work focused on micro-erythrosomes: containers derived from red blood cells. He studied their potential for cancer therapeutics and modifications to improve controlled release.

James worked as a process engineer for 2 years in the plastics industry, specifically the compounding of thermoplastic elastomers and color concentrates. He has experience in product formulation, capital project management, continuous improvement, injection molding, and extrusion at both lab and production scales.

James is set to transition into a PhD student role in the latter half of 2021. He brings a mixture of scientific and engineering skillsets and works on multiple research projects related to aerosolization.
